10/11/2023 11:30 - 12:30

This session will provide an opportunity for delegates to learn about how social work teams at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Heathrow Travel Care work internationally to support vulnerable people around the world and at the UK’s largest and busiest airport. This work covers a huge variety of issues, including homelessness, mental health concerns, victims of crimes, repatriations from abroad, and safeguarding concerns.

Learning outcomes:

  • What crisis social work involves and how it differs from statutory social work
  • How the teams work collaboratively and with social work teams and other agencies in the UK and around the world
  • Understanding referral pathways and how the FCDO/HTC can support UK social services
