Masterclass: Foundations of Practice – a systematic approach to developing core practice skills for today’s world

10/14/2020 13:30 - 14:30

Modern social work is busy, time-poor and requires practitioners to engage with a significant amount of research and guidance from multiple sources. To tackle this, Essex County Council decided to invest in giving all frontline adult social care workers, professionally registered or not, access to a developmental programme giving them reflective time and space to reconnect with what good social care looks like.

The five-day Foundations of Practice programme enables practitioners to enhance their knowledge of professional standards, critical analysis and safeguarding, their financial and legal literacy, and their ability to engage in difficult conversations.

In this masterclass in The Essex Theatre, Essex County Council adult social care staff will:

  • explore what is needed to roll out a practice development programme focused on the core principles of person-centred care;
  • set out how sessions can be made engaging, innovative and immersive through a blended approach to learning, in a way that builds practitioners’ agency and autonomy;
  • explain how the programme had adapted to digital delivery under Covid-19.

This session is hosted by our Event Partner:

David Williams, head of operational policy and sustainability, safeguarding and quality assurance, Essex County Council

Alison Clark, service manager, safeguarding and quality assurance, Essex County Council
