Modernising placements – achieving the right care for children at the right time

10/13/2021 11:30 - 12:45

Building on the success of Hampshire County Council's Transforming Social Care programme, it has embarked on a journey to transform the way children in its care are cared for. The aim of the Modernising Placements programme is to develop a continuum of care that provides the right accommodation and support, at the right time. Challenging current practices and culture, Hampshire is looking to introduce new services, drawing on the different skills and experiences of carers and staff in all settings and uniting them all through a common understanding and language.

This session will cover:

  • Rethinking placements - the aims of the programme.
  • The journey so far.
  • The new Hampshire Hive model for foster carers.
  • Developments underway including an urgent care service and Hampshire’s psychological service.
  • Lessons learned and how we can all think differently about how we look after children in our care.
