The role of the Domestic Abuse Commissioner is to stand up for victims and survivors, raise public awareness and hold both agencies and government to account in tackling domestic abuse. Social work has a vital role to play in achieving this aim. In this session, the first commissioner, Nicole Jacobs, will discuss:
- The role and priorities of the Domestic Abuse Commissioner.
- How the Domestic Abuse Act will affect social workers.
- Social work and the 'co-ordinated community response' to domestic abuse.
- Children's social care and the question of 'what good looks like' in responding to domestic abuse.
