Supporting people with personality disorder - an empathetic approach

10/12/2021 09:45 - 11:00

Social workers often have a negative perspective of adults with personality disorder. Likewise, those with a diagnosis of PD often have complex histories that include negative interactions with healthcare and social services. As a social work student with a diagnosis of PD, Justine Dashwood has a unique insight into these two worlds.

Join this session to learn about:

  • The link between trauma and emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD), the most commonly diagnosed PD.
  • How our perceptions of PD can influence outcomes.
  • Insights from those with PD.
  • Practical strategies for creating better working relationships with people with EUPD and helping them move forward.
