This session will explore how social workers can engage and manage risk effectively when supporting families experiencing child to parent violence and abuse. It aims to help professionals identify key barriers for parents and carers when accessing support and explore how an understanding of child to parent violence/abuse as multi-causal can help professionals recognise and address these barriers to provide support that empowers families in creating positive change. 

Attend this session to:

  • Understand the prevalence of child to parent violence/abuse and the importance of considering risk to all family members
  • Gain insight into the barriers families face when accessing support and receive practical tips and advice to apply when working with families experiencing child to parent violence/abuse
  • Learn how to provide support to families in a way that reduces further victim/parent blaming and increases engagement and positive change within the family unit
