Occupational therapy

This session will explore research and practice around the use of co-occupations to create opportunities for people with dementia and their carers to work together in a way that promotes participation in meaningful occupations.

It will help professionals to recognise and activate the strengths of people with dementia and facilitate sustainable and collaborative practice with people with dementia and the people they have connections with.

Attend this session to:

  • Explore the nature of co-occupations and how they can create a meaningful context for activating strengths and personhood for people with dementia
  • Learn about current research into co-occupations with people with dementia and into the transactional nature of occupation
  • Learn how facilitating co-occupations for people with dementia and meaningful others can empower both people with dementia and their care partners
