Brains, balance and bounce back: the essential role of occupational therapy with adults with acquired brain injury (ABI)
This session will focus on working with adults with acquired brain injury or ABI, an umbrella term which encompasses a broad range of conditions that affect the brain. ABI is sudden onset and likely to have major, long-lasting effects on the person and their family. Recovery can be a slow process.
Attend this session to:
• Gain a deeper understanding of the multi-faceted issues an OT assessment should address in the context of ABI, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial domains
• Discover how OT interventions can support the improvement of motor function, cognitive skills, and participation in vocational and daily activities
• Learn strategies to help individuals and their families navigate the emotional, psychological, and behavioural impacts of ABI, and support meaningful adjustment to life after injury
