Zone Host

Surrey County Council

Surrey Children’s Services Academy has been set up as part of the Transformation journey initiated by Dave Hill, Executive Director of Children, Families Lifelong Learning and Culture (CFLC) at Surrey County Council. 

The overall purpose of the Academy is to work with our partners across Surrey in the Police, Health, Education, and others to recruit develop and retain a workforce to give the best care and support to children, young people and families in Surrey.

The academy will:

  • Support staff to develop themselves and their ensure all staff have up-to-date knowledge and skills to fulfill their roles
  • Introduce and embed new skills, values and ways of working in all agencies that work with children and families
  • Develop a shared language and values for working with children and families across partners
  • Build effective leadership skills and capacity to strengthen partnership working
  • Develop a better understanding between agencies of each other’s roles and responsibilities
  • Keep abreast of new practice
  • Forge and maintain relationships with regional, national and international experts, and to bring their learning into Surrey.
Governance will be by a Strategic Stakeholder Board made up of partners to set scope, direction and priorities, supported by a Reference Group of staff and managers from across the partnership workforce to provide ideas and feedback, shape the content and act as ambassadors for the Academy within their services
